It is situated on the north side of mount Paggeo, approximately 7 klm. away from Proti, at a height of 930m. It was founded in 1979 at the location of a former monastery, dating back in the 18th century. It used to be ‘Virgin Mary Eikosifinissa’s’ dependency (a much bigger convent at the time). Its contribution to the Christians of the region made both the Turks and the Bulgarians destroy it, by looting and burning it down, especially in 1913, 1917 and 1944. After its re-establishment in 1979, it is run by nuns, and owes a lot to its abbess Anysia. The main building constitutes a cruciform rotund built according to the model of ‘Analipseos’ of mount ‘Elaion’ in the Holy Lands.
